For the women who run hot.
Some women run hot all year round, with or without hormones in the mix. Cooling activewear isn't a gimmick. It's the difference between finishing a session and bailing on it.
What 'cooling' actually means
It's not a magic ingredient. It's a combination of fabric weight, weave, moisture management and panel placement. Done well, the kit moves sweat off the skin so it can evaporate, which is what actually cools you down.
Look for
- Lightweight knits, ideally under 200 gsm.
- Mesh or laser cut ventilation in high heat zones.
- Flat seams that don't trap heat or rub once damp.
- Loose tops paired with mid weight bottoms, not the other way round.
Avoid
- Heavy compression head to toe.
- Brushed or fleece linings unless it's truly cold outside.
- Fabrics that hold water, like cotton tees, on hard sessions.
Train smarter in the heat
- Hydrate the day before, not just during the session.
- Train earlier or later, dodge midday heat where you can.
- Cool wrists, neck and feet between sets.
